Fitness Fun Now that summer is less than a month away, we’re starting to think about Summer Fridays, lazy days at the beach and concerts with friends.    Unfortunately many of these activities ideally involve a bikini ready body!   If you’re anything like us, you haven’t seen much sun in the past few months and the gym has taken a backseat to Netflix binging.  Not to worry, we’ve done the research and have listed our top group fitness classes.  If these don’t work for you, a walk or run around your neighborhood also does the trick!

Studio Cycling

Studio Cycling has swept the nation by storm!   Industry leader SoulCycle, with its celeb heavy clientele and signature yellow and black branded studios, has become synonymous with the trend.  That said, there are many smaller studios and cycling classes are now offered at gyms everywhere.  Grab your water bottle and saddle up for some serious calorie burning cardio!

Circuit Training
If you’re a cardio junkie but the idea of an hour on a bike just don’t appeal, Orange Theory might be what you’re looking for.  Participants wear a heart rate monitor that allows them to maintain a target zone for the duration of class.   Each class is slightly different but always includes a mix of treadmill cardio and in studio circuit training.

Barre

Is a high energy cardio session not quite for you?   Perhaps barre might be more your speed.  Inspired by classical ballet, barre classes incorporate elements of both Pilates and ballet with a focus on multiple reps of small movements.  This very specific approach leads to longer, leaner muscles over time.  Bar Method  offers a wide range of classes and has locations nationwide.

Yoga

Looking for a more Zen experience?   Yoga could be the answer.  The challenge is finding the right type of practice (Hatha, Ashtanga or Vinyasa just for starters…) as well as the best studio for you. Yoga Finder is an excellent resource which provides detailed information about studios around the world.   You’re sure to find what you’re looking for!

Can’t Commit?

If you’re like some of us, you want to constantly mix up your exercise routine. ClassPass  offers a selection of monthly plans that allow you try different studios across your city.   Yoga one day, rowing class the next?  No problem!
